Abstract:

The study aims to determine the effect of satirical media content on social media platforms on shaping the political attitudes of the Jordanian public, through the use of the Communication Dependence Theory approach, on a regular random sample of (758) individuals from Facebook platform users. The study concluded that the percentage of people who follow satirical political media content via social media platforms is (77.7%), with the largest percentage of respondents indicating that they use the Facebook and Instagram platforms, through the pages of Ahmed Hassan Al-Zoubi and the page of Abdul Majeed Al-Majali.  The study also found that the main topics they follow are the Palestinian cause, as well as wars and conflicts. The most significant cognitive impacts of engaging with this content included gaining exposure to diverse opinions and perspectives, and increasing awareness of social issues such as equality, human rights, and health. Emotionally, the content contributed to strengthening individuals' sense of social responsibility and provided stress relief and relaxation through humor. Behaviorally, the most notable effects were engaging in discussions with family and friends about satirical political topics and developing greater interest in volunteer work and community involvement.
