E-Learning Competencies for Workers in Special Education Centers of the Ministry of Education in the Middle Region

Abstract:

The research aims to identify e-learning competencies among workers in special education centers affiliated with the Ministry of Education in the Central Region. The study sample consisted of (300) principals and teachers who work in private centers, selected randomly. To accomplish the objectives of the study, the researchers adopted a descriptive approach. For this purpose, they developed a questionnaire comprising five sections with a total of 42 items. The validity and reliability of the tool was verified. The results showed that the arithmetic averages for the areas of e-learning competencies among workers in special education centers (technical competencies, administrative competencies, design competencies, facilitation competencies, and evaluation competencies) were high. There were also statistically significant differences attributed to the effect of gender on the responses of the study sample to the degree of availability of e-learning competencies among workers in the centers in all fields, as well as in the tool as a whole, and the differences were in favor of females. The study revealed that there are no statistically significant differences attributed to the effect of academic qualification on the responses of the study sample to the degree of availability of e-learning competencies among workers in the centers in all fields, as well as in the tool as a whole. The study concluded with many recommendations, including providing e-learning competencies for workers in special education centers, and intensifying periodic visits to directors and teachers working in special education centers to learn about their performance and the problems they face and to provide solutions and guidance related to employing digital skills and technologies.
