The Level of Knowledge of Elementary School Teachers in Jordan of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

  • Abstract: The present study aims to assess the level of knowledge of elementary school teachers in Jordan of ADHD. The study sample consists of (87) male and female teachers. To achieve the objectives of the study, the researcher prepared an achievement test consisting of (36) paragraphs divided into three areas: general knowledge (15) paragraphs, diagnostic knowledge (12) paragraphs, and therapeutic knowledge (9) paragraphs. The results of the study indicate that the teachers' knowledge level of ADHD is low on the total score and in the 3 areas of the test which is arranged respectively (general knowledge, diagnostic knowledge, and therapeutic knowledge). The study did not find significant differences in the level of knowledge due to variables of sex and age, while there were significant differences in the level of knowledge of teachers due to the educational experience for the less experienced, less than (5) years of experience.
