Abstract

The main objective of this study was to investigate the degree of academic departments heads application for governance in the capital Amman from staff members point of view.To achieve this objective;a sample of three universities was selected using random cluster samples and a sample of (130) staff members where (95) males and (35) females were drawn using stratified random sample.A questionnaire was developed to measure the degree of academic heads to governance.The validity and real ability for the questionnaire were achieved. The results of the study were that the degree of application was medium. And there were no significant differences due to sex, academic rank and the kind of colleges. There was a significant difference at (α≤0.05) level due to the university typevariable in favor of private universities.

This study recommends further studies related to the relationship between governance and other variables such as curricula, studying courses,   quality assurance, and faculty members.
