Tawfik Abu Alrob
Abstract: It has been noticed that a Jordanian novel had appeared earlier in 1948. It is "A girl from Palestine…" for Abdulhalem Abbas. Researchers still discuss it with concern as well as disagreement. Some believe that it really gets some of the artistic features of the point of view, in that they argue that the modern Jordanian novel has begun in mid - sixties. However, both groups do not actually base their views on the readers. In fact, they have only done some brief points or general statements have put haphazardly within a wider range of studies. Thus, the reader as well as the researcher are in a great need for a critical study that tackles its narrative artistic standard and focuses on its importance in the development of the Jordanian novel. A fact that has induced me to handle this critical study which begins by an introductory note or foreshadowing for the circumstances that had affected the previous Jordanian novel before Abbas's novel. Then I move to an overall study for the novel tackling all the different basic elements in a way that gives a brief hint at its content, and studies, the style in which the beginning has been presented. Then I discuss its plot, the narrative rhythm, the treatment of the subject, the narrative style, methods of presenting events, the artistic style, language and the end. After that I conclude by pointing at the most outstanding views as well as the basic facts that come out. These views have objectively cleared out novel's weak and strong points and have presented the neutral point of view concerning its artistic standard, and its significance for the progress of the modern Jordanian novel.
