Abstract
The study aimed to identify the reality of the application of the accreditation instructions of building and development of library collections and its impact on their quality from the views of the libraries' directors and heads of departments in the Jordanian private universities.
The descriptive survey method is used in this study. The study population consisted of 20 library directors and 55 heads of departments. 13 library directors and 30 heads of departments (or 65%) of the population were responded.
Findings revealed that all the libraries are committed with the accreditation instructions of building and development of library collections except what related to CDs and microfilms. Also there are statistically significant differences between the means of the respondents' answers, about the number of titles in the library at establishment of the library, attributed to the qualification variable for the Bachelor degree.
Study recommended, that the accreditation instructions, issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research should be reviewed to focus on what achieves the quality of library collection; especially to the electronic sources.
