Abstract:
The This study aimed at defining the degree of applying flexibility and elaboration skills in teaching Arabic language and its effect on achievement and language intelligence for basic ninth grade female students in Theeban Educational Directorate /Jordan.
The sample of the study consisted of (90) female students from three schools who were distributed into the three groups. The first experimental group in TheebanSecondary school for girls, which taught Arabic language by using flexibility skill. The second group in Sawada secondary school for girls which taught Arabic language by using elaboration skill.The third group in Lebb Secondary School for girls, which taught Arabic language by the common ordinary method.
The researchers developed two tools: An achievement test and a language intelligence scale. The validity and reliability of the two tools was insured and the ANCOVA has been used to analyze the data.
The results showed the followings:
• There were significant statistical differences between the means of study groups on the achievement posttest, in favor of the groups that have been taught with elaboration and flexibility skills.
• There were significant statistical differences between the means of study groups on the language intelligence posttest, in favor of the groups that have been taught by flexibility and elaboration skills when compared with the ordinary group.
The researchers suggested some recommendations related to the results of the study.
