Abstract:

This study aims to consider the opponent's argument. This is one of the philosophical dialectical justifications used by both parties (Bathris and Kufis) when refuting opinions, each refuting the other's opinion and proving the validity of their own regarding linguistic issues that were the subject of debate between scholars of both schools of thought. An adversary's argument is an attempt by one of two opponents to adopt the argument of the other party on one issue that the first party sought to refute in order to adopt it as an argument against the other party on another issue. In other words, it is a person's duty to argue with his opponent or the person with whom he is arguing, using the same arguments that that opponent or arguer is using to prove his point and refute the other person's point of view. This study shows that the Kufis and Basris both adopt this argument to varying degrees in expressing their opinions, and that it is a consistent argument at the level of the language rules adopted, which affected the complexity of language. This study revealed inconsistencies in the standards used by both parties in arguing and proving their claims.
