Abstract:

The current study aims to investigate the employment of authentic assessment tools by Islamic Education teachers in primary schools in the schools of Ramtha District Directorate of Education. The study also aims to reveal the impact of independent variables (gender, rank, experience) on the degree of employment of authentic assessment tools by Islamic education teachers in the primary stage. In order to achieve the objective of the study, the researcher prepared a three-dimension questionnaire (preparation, application, evaluation) with 26 items. The stability of the scale's scores was verified using Cronbach's alpha, which yielded a value of 0.89. The study sample consisted of a randomly selected group of 155 male and female Islamic Education teachers from schools in the Ramtha District.

The study revealed the following results: The overall mean of the study sample's responses was (3.9), which is a good indicator of their high utilization of authentic assessment methods, according to the five-point Likert scale. The results also showed statistically significant differences at the level of α ≤ 0.05 in the average estimates of the sample members regarding their use of authentic assessment methods, attributed to gender, with the differences favoring males. However, there were no statistically significant differences at the same significance level in the average estimates of the sample members concerning the use of authentic assessment methods in Ramtha District schools based on rank or experience. In light of the results, the study offers the following recommendations: training and development programs for Islamic Education teachers should incorporate the use of authentic assessment tools across various learning contexts. Additionally, workshops about assessments should be held especially for female teachers.
