Abstract:
The study seeks to explore Hezbollah's involvement in the Syrian crisis, highlighting the shift in the party's activities from a domestic Lebanese focus to a broader regional role. It also aims to clarify Hezbollah's motivations and interests behind its intervention in Syria. The study relied on the historical analytical approach, based on a hypothesis that the Lebanese Hezbollah plays a major role in consolidating the influence of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Arab region after the Arab Spring era. The study concluded that the Lebanese Hezbollah intervention in Syria is directed towards preserving the geographical space that strategically links Hezbollah with its political and ideological situation in Tehran, and to prevent the success of the Syrian revolution by separating this geographical connection in the event of the collapse of Bashar Al-Assad regime. The study showed that despite the importance of the role played by the Party on the Syrian land, its successes remained limited. The study also revealed that Hezbollah has suffered from a political loss in terms of its overall image in the Arab and Islamic worlds, as it shifted from being a force of resistance against Israel to a participant in a sectarian conflict between Sunnis and Shi'ites. Furthermore, its involvement in the drug trade has also played a role in tarnishing its reputation.
