- Abstract: This research is entitled "Irregular Plural in the First Part of the Book of Al-Fisr of Ibn Jinni; interpreting the Diwan of Al-Mutanabbi. The irregular plural is divided into two parts: irregular few plural and irregular collective plural. Irregular few plural is for a small number; like: (akbod), (ajmal), and (fityah), and has four forms (roots). Irregular collective plural is for a large number; like: (jorod), (hijaj), (Ghozah), and (Salahib); and has twenty-three forms (roots). The research contains verses from the first part of AL- Fisr. Ibn jinni tried explaining irregular plural, through the vocabulary, and this paper tries the same through collecting the irregular plural; so I prepared irregular collective plural. The paper pays attention to its semantics and its morphological forms, based on the morphological rules in the books of the grammarians. The plural moods may use some of them in some places, and may do without others. So they (Arabs) said: 'Rasan' and Arsan', 'Qalam' and 'Aqlam', and they were satisfied with this plural instead of the irregular collective plural. And they said: 'Rajol' and 'Rijal' and 'Sabi'' and 'Sibaa'' and did not create irregular few plural forms for them, and, by analog, the irregular collective plural could be instead of the irregular few plural; because the few is included in the collective. Irregular few plural is for indefinite, while definiteness by (AL) and definiteness by addition is valid for both irregular few plural and irregular collective plural because of the genre.
