Abstract:

The study primarily aims to review and clarify the concept of social structure and the aspects addressed by sociologists and policymakers in explaining the nature and importance of social structures and their impact on society. The multiplicity of definitions and theoretical approaches attempted to shed light on social structures, their roles, forms, components, and the changes that may occur within them. It became evident that demographic, political, and economic developments play a role in these changes, such as changes in the goals and behaviors of actors within social structures.

Regarding political parties, the study addressed theoretical approaches that attempted to explain the emergence of political parties, clarify their concept, functions, and roles in modernizing and developing societies and transitioning towards democracy. The focus was on the necessary conditions to ensure the success of the democratic party experience, through addressing modernization and democratic transition as theoretical frameworks for the emergence of parties. The study utilized historical and analytical methods, presenting the prominent theoretical arguments of sociologists and political scientists, attempting to clarify the aspects related to social structure and its impact on political parties. The study concluded the presence of several social structure-related factors that may play a role in the emergence and effectiveness of political parties, including the level of organization and institutionalization within them, the level of political culture among the individuals comprising these structures, and the clarity of their goals and roles. The study recommended the necessity of raising cultural and political awareness among future generations and familiarizing them with the importance of social organization and its role in defending the interests of individuals and groups. It also emphasized enhancing the role of various sectors of society in policymaking, legislation, and decision-making processes, to ensure communication between decision-making centers, society members, and its structures, and to develop economic and social policies to improve living standards to encourage citizens to engage in politics and party work.
