Abstract:
This study seeks to analyze ranks of cities of Qassim region in Saudi Arabia based on size variable to calculate actual and theoretical ranks. Through geographical analyzing with a mathematical model the size order of cities of Qassim region are studied with urban features. The aim of the study was: (Studying the urban system of Qassim and analyzing features to highlight impacts of urbanization factors on sizes and ranks). The researcher used rank-size rule as well as geographical statistical approach and regional method. Main results were: ranks of cities based on the rule, the dominance of Buraydah city and the fact that the curve of urban sizes is far from the straight line of rank-size rule.The study recommended: administrative levels development of urban areas to improve public services, following of balanced method in economic and human development, and activating roles of factors attracting population to cities with small sizes.
