Impact of Application of the Media Planning in Crisis Management: A case Study of the Directorate General of the Jordanian Civil Defense

Abstract:

This study aims to look at how using media planning can help during a crisis. The study will focus on the Directorate General of Jordanian Civil Defense as an example. To reach the goals of the study, the researcher designed a survey with (40) questions. (32) Questions are related to media planning and (8) questions are related to measuring crises management. After that, the reliability of the survey tool is tested. Then, the study is conducted on a group of (89) people who are randomly selected from the staff of the Jordanian Civil Defense General Directorate using a method called stratified random sampling. The research found the following outcomes:

a. The Directorate General of Jordanian Civil Defense staff think positively about using media planning in crisis management. They believe that media planning has a medium to high impact on managing crises.

b. There is a strong effect at a certain level of confidence (α ≤ 0. 05) when using media planning methods like media role, media coordination, media plans, and the media in the crisis management of the Directorate General of Jordanian Civil Defense. The media plans have the biggest impact on crisis management in the Directorate General of Jordanian Civil Defense.

c. The study suggests that the Directorate General of Jordanian Civil Defense should pay more attention to the "media" aspect, as it was ranked fourth and last in terms of staff evaluation priorities. Considering that using the media is crucial in dealing with emergencies, it is important to arrange educational courses and workshops to educate the people in Jordan about the significance of media campaigns during crises.
